Visa |
|
The United States undergraduate student visa is known as the F-1. After your university accepts you, you will be mailed the I-20 or the certification from the university that you are fit to attend. The I-20 is a very important document, to be presented to the consular officer at the time of visa interview. Your college is likely to send you guidelines on how to go about the process.
A student visa is relatively easier to obtain when compared to other U.S. visas. It is important to schedule the interview at the local consulate immediately after you have been mailed the I-20. This is because, if you are denied a visa, you have ample time to try again.
For students in India, be sure to schedule the interview online, well before the arrival of your expected I-20. The following links may be of help if you’re applying from India. Aspirants from Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Oman may find info at:
Not applying from India? Look for the U.S. Embassy in your country with keywords like: US Embassy <your country’s name>
